Litha - Midsummer

Happy Litha!

Litha is one of the eight solar holidays or Sabbats observed by Wiccans, though the New Forest traditions (those referred to as British Traditional Wicca) tend to use the traditional name Midsummer. It is celebrated on the Summer Solstice, or close to it. The holiday is considered the turning point at which summer reaches its height and the sun shines longest.

Beltane

Greetings and I hope you all had a wonderful Beltane this spring! I’m sorry to be a little late in wishing you a Happy Beltane but better late than never. I was a little later getting our newsletter out for Beltane as well since I didn’t want to put it out until after the software upgrade was done to the store. As you may have noticed past newsletters are filled with errors now when it comes to finding the right page for product links and the image format has changed for the upgrade as well.

The Sabbat Missive for Beltane is out and has been sent to our subscribers but you may view a copy of it on the store. Just click Beltane.

Software upgrade update

The new version of our store will be up in a couple of days. The switch will take place between Monday and Tuesday this coming week. As mentioned previously we were unable to make the upgrade without some problems with our old database being not fully compatible with the new version of our shopping cart. As a result we’re loosing data that we would much rather have kept.

What this means to you is that your order history and account will no longer be available after the switch. You will have to register a new account in order to shop with us in the future.

You will not have to sign up for the newsletters again as this information is kept on a separate database.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

SacredKiln.com software upgrade

Okay, so the upgrade to the new version of osCommerce didn’t go a smoothly as I had first thought. Everything looked just fine (just to lull you into a false sense of security) and then someone new signed up to buy something… someone from Ontario. The problem was noticed when we were processing the order and found they were not charged Provincial Sales Tax which they should have been since they’re in Ontario and we’re in Ontario.

We found that there is a small (ha, small) glitch in the upgrade from the old version to the new version. The old database (which stores all our customer and product data and history) isn’t fully compatible with the new version of the store. It leaves out the Province/State data for new registrations and is also not visible in previous customer data. This can be a problem for say, shipping? Taxes? Just a small glitch…

So needless to say I’m forced to start over from scratch and rebuild the store. It should be ready in about a week since I can’t just dump the data in but must recreate it manually… one item at at time.

The sad thing is we’ll loose all our customers data from the new database which means your registrations will need to be done again. Also your address book information and of course your order history will be history.

Newsletters are a different story and they’re just fine so you need not re-register for those.

Feel free to continue to shop and place your orders… if you live in Ontario you will be sent an invoice for sales tax, just so you know.

All this just to keep up with the times.

We’ll let you know right here, and through email, when the big change will take place… or you can just try to login to the new store next week and find you can’t… unless you register again.

blessings,

Kemi
